Classed a fad diet, the 3 Day Diet causes more problems than it solves.

3 Day Diet Review

Diet plans such as the 3 Day Diet are classed as fad diets and quickly move out fashion. The 3 Day Diet popular during the mid 1980’s - the originator of the diet is unknown.

The methodology behind the 3 Day Diet is not to hard to explain – it is to lose weight quickly over a period of about 3 days. While some weight loss can be achieved, the majority of the weight lost is due to water (or fluid loss of your body which can be extremely dangerous.

The 3 Day Diet is to be followed strictly for 3 days and then the dieter must eat as they usually would (pre 3 Day Diet) for about a week before once again following the diet.

What Is The 3 Day Diet

The science behind the diet is that the types of food that are eaten cause a special metabolic reaction that promotes rapid weight loss. Followers of the 3 Day Diet are promised up to 10lbs of weight loss in three days, although realistically, most of that weight is likely due to fluid loss and not the more desirable fat loss.

The diet plan would involve coffee, toast, vegetables, fruits and some other foods such as cheese in very restricted servings over the course of a day. This diet plan must be followed specifically to lose the reported 10 pounds in 3 days – according to its creator or creators.

The 3 Day Diet had many variations – here is a typical example.

DAY 1

BREAKFAST

Black Coffee or Tea (if required, with 1-2 packets of Sweet and Low or equivalent)

1/2 a Grapefruit or Juice

1 Slice of Toast with 1 tbsp. Peanut Butter

LUNCH

1/2 a Cup of Tuna

1 Slice of Toast

Black Coffee or Tea (if required, with 1-2 packets of Sweet and Low or equivalent)

DINNER

3 Oz. any lean red meat or chicken

1 cup each of

green beans

carrots

regular vanilla ice cream

1 apple

DAY 2

BREAKFAST

Black Coffee or Tea (if required, with 1-2 packets of Sweet and Low or equivalent)

1 Egg (boiled, scrambled)

1/2 a Banana

1 Slice of Toast

LUNCH

1 cup of cottage cheese or tuna

8 regular saltine crackers

DINNER

2 beef franks

1 cup of broccoli or cabbage

1/2 a cup carrots

1/2 a banana

1/2 a cup of regular vanilla ice cream

DAY 3

BREAKFAST

Black Coffee or Tea (if required, with 1-2 packets of Sweet and Low or equivalent)

5 regular saltine crackers

1 oz. cheddar cheese

1 apple

LUNCH

1 boiled egg

1 slice of toast

Black Coffee or Tea (if required, with 1-2 packets of Sweet and Low or equivalent)

DINNER

1 cup each of:

tuna

carrots

cauliflower

melon

1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream

Does The 3 Day Diet Work

Fad diets such as this one are the worst for most dieters to follow. There is not any real weight loss happening – just dangerously depleting yourself of fluids.

In addition, there is no scientific evidence that the foods eaten on this diet cause some specific metabolic reaction conducive to losing weight.

Another negative is that this diet is not a lifestyle change and does not promote exercise- meaning whatever weight you lose with this diet will usually be put back on in a short period of time. As always, consult with a physician before starting any diet or exercise program.

Alternative Diet Plans

Tesco Diets have a three pronged attack for weight loss – utilising menus, support and community for just £2.99 per week. The weight loss and diet program from Tesco that includes the Gi and Mediterranean diets

Tesco Diets Personalised Diet Plan

What was Tesco eDiets is now simply Tesco Diets – a slight bit of rebranding but otherwise an unchanged product.

The message is now “Online Healthy Eating Club” – rather than a weight loss plan or diet program.

Tesco Diets is one of the better weight loss or diet solutions in an industry that is plagued by over hype and over expectation.

Lose 10lbs in 5 weeks – at a rate of 2lbs per week is about right and achievable.

What Is Tesco Diets

Very similar to the hundreds of other weight loss programs where a three pronged approach to weight loss recommended.

A personalised weekly meal plan that is tailored and bespoke

A slimming mentor to to provide advice and motivation

Ongoing support from the Tesco Diets team and the member community

The difference being is that the menus are not based around requiring you to buy only the recommended produce ala Jenny Craig - obviously Tesco would prefer you to buy their produce, but it is not a prerequisite.

Tesco Diet Plans

Tesco produce a range of popular diet plans including the Gi Diet, the Mediterranean diet and Light choices. More diet plans from Tesco here

Customer Comments For Tesco Diets

With a proud reputation to uphold Tesco is winning more friends than enemies. Here are just some of the consumer comments taken from unbiased sources.

“As a dieter who has tried anything and everything over the years. I have found the Tesco Diet support and meal plans fantastic and easy to use. I would certainly recommend the service to a friend.”

“Tesco Diets have a variety of options. They are very supportive and always respond to your questions. It is very useful to have access their website and to log on. Overall I say it is FANTASTIC and the BEST diet website I have so far used.”

On the negative side the free trial introductory offer has now ceased but Tesco Diets still offer great value at £1.50 per week … and you get triple club card points.

Is Tesco Diets Recommended

Probably the best diet program (not to mention the cheapest) available to the UK. The nearest competitor would be Gillian McKeiths Boot Camp – although Ms McKeith has somewhat jumped on the corporate gravy train as of late.

How To Join Tesco Diets

From the official Tesco Diets website – click to join Tesco Diets
